Stay Tuned

Many Kansas City Improv groups have submitted for entry into numerous improv festivals across the country. Stay tuned to hear who ended up where.

Until then enjoy this fun fact:

John Lehr who stars in 10 items or less and was also one of the original Geico cavemen, is a native of Overland Park, KS. Just like Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis.

...and even more press

The Kansas City Star had a great article as well...they even mentioned our very own Kansas City Improv Blog.

The weekend was kind to all of the improv shows.

Comedy City sold out
Full Frontal Comedy sold out
CounterClockwiseComedy sold out
Thunderdome might as well have been sold out
Tantrum and John over at Roving Imp said that they had great crowds as well.

Congratulations Kansas City Improv.
Keep up the great shows.

Kansas City Improv gets some great press

Kansas City is enjoying the most thriving comedy scene that I've seen in my lifetime. Not at the stand-up level, where the big clubs are overpriced temples to the hacks. And the low-rent clubs feature too many sweaty, shouting open-mikers polishing sets from three years ago. Instead, it's among the seat-of-the-pants improv crowd.

Special Thanks goes to Alan Scherstuhl for his ongoing support of good improv in Kansas City.

2009 comes in with an improv bang

Don't believe us, just check out all of these shows happening this weekend alone:

Roving Imp Theater featuring Hype 7
Comedy City
Full Frontal Comedy
Improv Thunderdome
The Trip Fives and Makeshift Militia

That is quite a good list of improv to choose from.

Remember, you can catch one on Friday and one on Saturday if you are having trouble picking.

Did we miss anyone?

1. Most importantly, go see as many improv shows as you can, you will learn a lot from watching. Just click on the links to the right to find out show information for any group. Each group does something different.

2. Join the Improv Gym. This is a great place to just play without any pressure.

3. Take a great class from a great teacher at Roving Imp. This is the best place to take classes if you are a beginner. Right now, there is no other venue in town providing the kind of improv training that Roving Imp provides.
